Our Shared Shelf is a feminist book club organized by Emma Watson where every 2 months she will select a book and then book club members can read and about the book during that 2 months period.  The book club is hosted on Goodreads and everyone can join. I started join this book club since this January in the hope I can broaden my reading materials and also get to know more knowledge about feminism.

Here is the list of book(s) we have read and/or are currently reading:

As I join this book club bit late, I’ll also try to catch up reading the previous books that have been read and discussed by the members before. At first Emma selected 1 book for each month but since the 7th month of the book club she decided to make it bi-monthly to let members get more time to find/buy/borrow, read/listen and discuss about the book. Here is the list of the previous books:

  • My Life on The Road by Gloria Steinem (Jan ’16)
  • The Color Purple by Alice Walker (Feb ’16)
  • All About Love: New Visions by bell hooks (Gloria Jean Watkins) (Mar ’16)
  • How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran (Apr ’16)
  • The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson (May ’16)
  • Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi (Jun ’16)
  • Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl by Carrie Brownstein (Jul – Aug ’16)
  • Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide by Nicholas D Kristof & Sheryl WuDunn (Sep – Oct ’16)
